Marriage is the Rock

January 27, 2016 by Heidi Olsen 4 Comments

Marriage is the rock that holds the family together. My marriage and family have definitely been a testimony to this! I decided to start blogging to share my family’s amazing stories of God’s mercy and grace in our life – every single day.

Marriage is good for people. Marriage is good for children. Marriage is the start of a brand new family. I want families to be happy. I want families to succeed. I want children to grow up in happy homes. I want families to love each other – with all their heart, soul, and might!  With God and a strong family that sticks together, you can overcome anything!

Marriage is the rock that holds the family together

Marriage is an amazing thing, if you put God at the front of it all. He is the creator of marriage and he has the best plan for it! Even if your parents weren’t successful at marriage, it is no indication of your success in marriage. My life is a LIVING TESTIMONY to this!!

10 yrs married 2009

I want to let girls and boys know that if your parents are divorced, that God loves you, and hears your prayers! I was not taught that marriage was something to look forward to because of what I saw my parents go through. When I was 7 years old my parents divorced after years of my mother’s absence. My dad remarried the next year and I realized that my parents were not ever getting back together. So, I started praying for something even better.

I prayed to God that He would give me a man to marry who would love me no matter what, a man that would love me despite all my faults, a man that would encourage me to grow and be a better person, a man that I could encourage and help to be a better person, a man that I could give my babies to, and a man that I could raise children with that would show the world that with God ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! But, most importantly I prayed for God to give me a family that would love me no matter what! My children will know what a strong marriage looks like by the example I’ve been blessed to give to them. God has a plan for your life – an amazing plan! Sometimes you are given no other choice but to trust God and let go.

Still in Love

What do you think of this idea? How do you think we can help strengthen marriages and families?

God bless you all,
Mrs. Olsen

This is such an encouragement to people who may have experienced divorce or a rocky example of what marriage looks like. What a beautiful post!

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
~ 1 Timothy 6:12

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
~ 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
~ John 16:33

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
~ Isaiah 40:28-31

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
~ Romans 8:31
